A great way to spend Labor day is the 30th Stillwater County Annual Sheep Drive. Grab the kids and your friends and gear up for an exciting day of fun in the sun. Read the schedule and take note of our tips to have the best day ever. There will even be events for kids throughout the day, including various inflatables, rides, and a petting zoo – so feel bring to bring the whole family.

Classic Car Show – All Day

Join us all for the classic car show, where people come from all over Stillwater County to show off their prized classic cars. Are you and your family car junkees and experts? Come enjoy all the cars on display and get to know the people who own them!

Farmers Market – Starts at 10:00am

This year at the Stillwater County Annual Sheep Drive, there will also be a Farmers Market. Enjoy local favorite goods all day (or until food runs out!) in downtown Reed Point.

Pancake Breakfast – 7:00am to 10:00am

Start the day early at the Fire Hall for a Pancake breakfast that everyone will love! If you’ve got small kids, this is a great way to get them a nice big meal before the festivities of the day.

Live Music – 11:00am to 4:00pm

There will be live music under the Big Top starting after the Pancake Breakfast. Live music is the sound of summer, and it’s great to be able to support local artists, so be sure to stop by for a song or two.

Parade – 12:30pm

Known as the “Biggest Little Parade in Montana,” the Labor Day parade is an event that families look forward to all year round. Everyone loves a good parade, and small town parades are always full of community pride. Come show your support, and bring the whole family!

Live Auction – 1:00pm

Jim Cooper will be leading the auction at 1 pm. All proceeds from the auction go back into the community. From developing a community park that everyone can enjoy, to updating the public library, to new sports uniforms for the schools, there are hundreds of projects that need to get done to make our county better. The auction helps make those things happen.

Have you ever been to an auction? They are definitely a unique and exciting experience you should go to at least once in your life.

Lamb Cook Off – 2:30pm

Come help judge the Great Montana Lamb Cook Off. There will cash prizes for the best lamb, and we bet you’ll have loads of fun trying out all the recipes. Because both chefs and amateur cooks will participating, you’ll have no trouble finding something that everyone will love. This event is sponsored by the American Lamb Board, and there is no entry fee to participate.

There will be over 70 vendors all day offering various meals and drinks, so come with an empty stomach. Today is sure to be a party, with good food and drinks all around.

Hay Roll Bale Contest – 3:00pm

Made up of 3 person teams, the Hay Roll Bale Contest is one contest that some people train for all year long. True Montana residents have no problem pushing a massive 1,200 pound bale, and you can prove it by signing up your team today!

Running of the Sheep – 4:00pm

The highlight of the Stillwater County Annual Sheep Drive is the Running of the Sheep. Nearly 400 sheep run through Division Street. Think of the Running of the Bulls in Spain, only with adorable sheep and no people running in fear. Grab your camera and cheer them on as they run 6 blocks down main street in Reed Point, MT.

Log Sawing Contest – 4:30pm

Are you a pro with sawing logs? Join us at the Stillwater County Annual Sheep Drive as competitors are timed to cut through a thick log with a Simonds-style crosscut two man saw.

The record is well under a minute. How well can you cut through?

Street Dance – 5:00pm

The Street Dance might be the best part of the entire Sheep Drive. Thanks to the Waterhole Saloon, the street dance with live music is a party you’ll never forget. Put your dancing boots on and get over to Reed Point for a dance that is the perfect end to the summer.
